Genome engineering by use of optimized TALENs, ZFNs, and CRISPR/Cas9 systems has accelerated early drug discovery efforts.  In this symposium, we discuss state-of-the-art methods and applications with a view to translating basic biology to novel medical therapies.  

Symposium sessions will highlight how scientists are applying genome engineering to create more physiologically and genetically relevant model systems, including those derived from stem cells, to answer disease biology questions and functionally validate new drug targets.
